Producer Pioneers: Flava D breaks down her creative process
Despite steps taken across the industry in recent years, the percentage of producers today that identify as women stands at just six percent. Led by Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, Producer Pioneers shines a light on four brilliant women producers, giving them a platform to speak about their journey and creative process in a bid to inspire a new generation of non-male producers in electronic music.
The first edition saw Murphy go deep with Honey Dijon on her production methods and key musical influences. Next, we have Raj Chaudhuri interviewing London-based producer Flava D, whose output over the years has spanned grime, house, bassline, drum & bass and more. Their conversation opens with her early memories of tapping away at a Casio keyboard aged five and ends in 2023, with Flava D a decade into her career and getting stuck into the world of drum & bass.
Producer Pioneers is supported by Danley Sound Labs and Audio Technica, two brands working to create a more balanced and democratic future for the world of audio.
